We are Pete & Nita Harksell, owners of Pete’s Auto Repair, LLC. We both have deep roots in Whatcom County with our great-grandparents settling in the county in 1888-89. We both are graduates of Ferndale High School with Nita going to Bellingham Technical College in the field of office and accounting. Pete went to the GM School in Tigard, Oregon. Peter Harksell Jr.
Owner, Technician, Service Adviser, Etc.
Pete is a lifetime resident of Whatcom County. He has been involved with cars all his life. He started out working in his father’s service station and then he purchased the business when it moved to its present location in 1991.
Pete is an ASE Certified Master Technician, ASE Certified Parts Specialist, and ASE Certified Service Advisor.
His interests are hot rods, hot wheels, reading, camping, and bicycle riding.
Nita Harksell
Co-owner and Office Manager
Nita is a lifetime resident of Whatcom County. She has been involved with the business since it opened in 1991. Before that she was a stay at home mom to their son.
She has a background in secretarial and book keeping.
Her interests are cooking, gardening, bicycle riding, and writing poetry.
Lloyd Smith
Lead Technician
Lloyd grew up in Kansas and moved to Washington over 10 years ago. He has been involved in the automotive business since he started driving. He has worked in service stations, dealerships and independent shops.
Lloyd is an ASE Certified Master Technician and has worked for us since October 2004.
His interests include cars and motorcycles.
Karl Hepler
Service Advisor
Karl was born in Whatcom County though he lived numerous years in Montana. We first met Karl when he returned to Whatcom County and went to work for Pete Sr. at Pete's Ferndale Exxon until that business closed in 1992. Karl joined us here at Pete's Auto Repair in April 2011. Karl enjoys spending his spare time riding his motorcycle.
